Repipe Services

There comes a time when repairing your pipes just won’t work anymore. Like everything else, as they get older, they become less efficient and prone to breaking. If this is the case in your home, it may be time to consider a repipe of your entire home. Count on your local Buffalo Grove and Suburban Chicago plumbing experts at Lake Cook Plumbing to help you through this complicated home issue.

If you are unsure about whether or not you are at that point, here are some signs that indicate you may need to replace your pipes:

  1. Constant need for repair
  2. Frequent leaks
  3. Discolored Water
  4. Visible signs of corrosion on pipes that are exposed
  5. Reduced water pressure

That’s not all you have to think about, though. If you live in a home that was built in the early 1900s, you might have lead pipes that need to be replaced immediately. These pipes carry with them the risk of lead poisoning, and that’s definitely not something you want your family exposed to.

If your home was built between 1970 and 1990, you may need a replacement, too. Those homes might have Polybutylene pipes that have been proven unreliable.

Repipe Solutions

Homes that are in need of repiping have a few options to choose from:

  1. Total Replacement: While this type of job does require breaking through walls and floors, you will gain a lot more than you will lose. You will have a peace of mind that your pipes will work reliably, while also increasing your home’s value. If you are in the process of a remodel, anyway, you might want to consider this.
  2. Exposed Replacement: Even if all the pipes in your home do need replacing, if you want to save a little money you can choose to have only the pipes replaced that are exposed. However, this option is only on the table as long as hidden pipes are found to be in acceptable condition.
  3. PEX Piping: This is more of a repair solution than a replacement, but it is helpful if you don’t want to destroy any of your property. You can have PEX piping snaked into your existing pipes to fix any problems you are having.

Repipe Benefits

You may think that repairs are the cheaper option, but in many cases it’s not. Constant repairs add up – quick! You’d be better off having a plumber come in and replace the entire system. That way, you pay a one-time cost, and never have to call in another pipe repair again!

Don’t keep dishing out money on pipe repairs – call Lake Cook Plumbing to schedule a repiping. You won’t regret it!
