Problems with Tank-Type Water Heaters- Antioch, IL

  • Water Heaters

What are your water heater’s hidden weaknesses?

What’s wrong with a traditional water heater?  There has to be a reason why it’s “traditional,” right?  Conventional water heaters are “tank-type,” which means they store 40 to 80 gallons of water at a pre-set temperature for distribution through your home.  For some households, conventional water heating might work fine: if you’re actually using all of that water on a daily basis consistently throughout the day without ever running out, then perhaps your current, conventional water heater may be ideal for you.

But, more often than not, conventional water heaters don’t actually fit a household.  They’re an outdated system, and most people are not properly maintaining them, which has allowed those old tank interiors to rust and corrode. People who have them generally have a number of complaints that can be boiled down to:

  • Repeated Replacements- Conventional models generally need to be replaced between 6 and 10 years, and because tanks are so susceptible to damage they frequently don’t even last that long.
  • Energy Inefficient– The typical conventional water heaters are only effective at heating your water with 60 cents of your utility bill dollar. Additionally, your conventional water heater is heating the stored water 24/7, even when you aren’t home and your tap isn’t in use.  That means you’re wasting energy heating water that’s in storage.
  • Limited Hot Water– When that 40-or-so gallons of heated water are used up, the tank needs time to refill.  That’s why, if your family showers for too long, somebody gets stuck taking a cold shower at the end.

The advanced technology of tankless corrects all of these design flaws and more.  Because the tank is eliminated, you don’t waste space or energy heating water in storage.  Tankless heaters are up to 35% more efficient on average, giving you hundreds of dollars worth of energy savings a year.  On top of all of that, you get endless water on-demand whenever you need it!  You’ll never take a cold shower again.
