All household problems are a nuisance, especially those involving your water heater. When your water heater breaks, you could experience a number of different things: no hot water, scalding temperatures, leaks, and more. And, when that happens, doing every day tasks like showering and washing dishes becomes pretty difficult.

In our opinion, having no hot water is the worst of them all. No one wants to shower in the cold! If you are experiencing a lack of hot water in your home, we’re sure you’d want to know what exactly you can do about it.

No Hot Water Causes and Solutions

  1. Leak: In many cases, leaks signify the end of your water heater’s life, as there aren’t many repairs that can be done to get it back to a working condition. However, if it’s just your pressure relief valve that’s become loose, you’re in luck. We can come in and tighten it up for you.
  2. Sediment build up: If you hear an unusually loud noise coming from your water heater, it’s probably because sediment has built up. The longer it sits in your tank, the less efficient the water heater becomes. In addition, this sediment can cut your unit’s life span short and even require it to be replaced. To fix this problem, you can have your unit flushed. Flushing is performed each time you have regular maintenance on your unit, so you may want to start thinking about setting those appointments up.
  3. Age: Like most things in life, aging wears your system down. With that decreasing efficiency comes less hot water. If your system is older than 12 years, it may be time to say goodbye and invest in a brand new one.
  4. Thermostat: This one’s important, because you may have a very simple fix on your hands. If the temperature of the water doesn’t match the number showing on your thermostat, you may just need to have that checked out, instead of your entire unit.
